HIGH PRAISE FOR THE TRILOGY SUITE SINGLECOILS
13th November 2023
Searching for a tone revamp for a Custom Shop Strat, Guitarist Magazine's Neville Marten discovered the fat, powerful tone of the Trilogy Suite
Guitarist magazine's Neville Marten came to us for some advice regarding a thinner-sounding custom shop Strat, in the hope that he could get it closer to the broad tones that he'd heard on a live recording of a Marty wilde gig;
"I decided to see if I could give it a bit more oomph"
"I spoke to my friend Tim Mills down at Bare Knuckle Pickups to take advantage of his bottomless pit of knowledge about windings, magnets, pole pieces and so on. "Tim. I want my Strat to sound like it's got P-90s in it, but still look like a stock Fender with singlecoils"
Tim initially suggested our Rabea Massaad signature Triptych coils; "They're like a souped-up SRV sound but with a bit more besides" but Neville had designs on moving to something with a little more girth than even those.
"So I told tim that I'd also watched the demo of his Trilogy pickups and believe it or not, preferred the sound of those."
"I duly fitted my new loaded pickguard and... Wow! My tradtional-looking 50s twanger is now a big, bold bruiser that could take on all comers"
"Having received the set from Tim and his crew,wonderfully made and beautifully boxed, of course, I duly fitted my new loaded pickguard and took the guitar to a gig that weekend. Wow! It was exactly what I wanted. My traditional-looking 50s twanger is now a big,bold bruiser of a guitar that could take on all comers."
Were really pleased to hear that the Trilogy Suite set did the trick and provided a real transformation for Neville's Strat. Giving an instrument a new voice and, hopefully, making it one that you just can't put down is our ultimate goal here at Bare Knuckle and it's always great to hear a success story like this!
Be sure to check out Neville's full acount of the transformation in this month's Guitarist magazine, issue 505
